This WWII Gustloff-Werke produced 98K rifle has a machine gun barrel featuring a late war muzzle. The top of the receiver ring is marked "bcd / 4" with traces of eagle proofs remaining. The left receiver wall is marked "Mod. 98". The left side of the barrel at the breech has an eagle firing proof and the serial number. Matching numbers on the barrel and bolt assembly. Stamped parts with "qnw" marked on the trigger guard and floor plate. Laminated pistol grip stock with upper handguard and cupped buttplate. The stock has a faint Heer stamp on the right side.
BBL: 24 inch round
Stock: laminated
Gauge: 8 mm
Finish: phosphate
Grips:
Serial Number: 4376
Condition: Excellent. The rifle retains 98% plus original phosphate finish (blue on the front barrel band and trigger guard, not plate which is phosphate) with the balance a smooth gray patina. There is some minor spotting on the buttplate. The wood is also excellent with a long laminate separation behind the receiver tang, some chipping along the grain on the left side of the forearm, and some scattered minor handling marks. Mechanically excellent.
