<td width="100%">
A very unusual pottery cylinder manufactured at the end of the Mayan civilization, beginning of the Toltec Empire - circa 900 A.D. Using a distinct Maya color palette, but using lead-based pigments fired at high temperatures resulting in a slight, silvery glaze similar to what one finds in Plumbate pottery of the Toltecs. Straight walls, three nubbin feet and decorated in red diamond pattern at base and black scalloped pattern on top. 5"H x 4"D, intact/just about choice with light root markings, almost-invisible stable age crack and a tiny bit of wear to surface. Ex-private AZ Collection with Museum numbers on base. A very rare and desirable piece of Late Mayan pottery!
