Large hand painted Thangka , 19th century or early 20th century. Featuring Bhavacakra or wheel of life or wheel of samsara. The Thangka embroidered silk, two bands in red silk with a cord to close the covering and two wood staffs. In addition to the top corners of the back of the painting, it features a lacquer wax stamp of Nepal. The painting is layered with colours achieved through the oxidation of azurite, malachite, minium and vegetal colours, vermillion, orpiment, indigo with brocades of gilt gold. Thangka is in good general conditions. 77.56 x 50.79 inches (197 x 129 cm). PROVENANCE: Private collection, Italy
