Late 19th C. French Buffet Cabinet By Koppelman
For your consideration is this late 19th century French buffet cabinet made by Koppelman Furniture Company. A buffet is what the French refer to as a small sideboard used for serving dishes. Buffets, enfilades, and sideboards, which date to the 18th century, offer elegant storage and a practical surface for serving or displaying items. This cabinet shows an amazing oak construction, with oak burl cabinet doors and brass rectangular mounts with bail handles on each of the three drawers. The top shows a rectangular cut and beveled white marble top spanning almost the entirety of the top of the cabinet and features colors of white and grey. The back splash shows a carved oak construction with designs on the left, right and top middle. The back splash is not connected, but can easily be repaired. Overall the buffet cabinet shows good condition with some wear and scratching to the wood in some areas but no obvious signs of damage are noted other than the back splash. The buffet cabinet measures 20" L x 47" W x 39 3/4" H.
