Late 1920's Johnny Evers Signed Letter PSA/DNA
Late 1920's Johnny Evers Handwritten Signed Letter. Exceptional handwritten letter from the pivot man of the famous Chicago Cubs double play trio is arguably the finest of the small supply of Evers ALS to ever reach the auction block. We come to this assessment quite logically. First, the note written in response to a young autograph seeker references the other two Hall of Fame members of the Championship Cubs infield: "...And as to Chance & Tinker, Chance I am sorry to say died in 1924 where he was Mgr. of the White Sox and Tinker I am sure you can locate at Orlando, Fla..." Then we must note the spectacular letterhead from Evers' sporting goods store upon which the letter is penned, with the booming headline "Johnny Evers of Baseball Fame." Finally, the ink quality, including the closing "John J. Evers" signature, registers a consistent and undeniable rating of 10/10. Condition issues include only the minor concerns of original mailing folds, a typed identification label at lower margin and the remnants of other apparent labels near the top edge. None of these are to the detriment of the display, as our catalog imagery should reveal. A gorgeous and important piece. LOA from PSA/DNA.
