Late 1900s Clear Lake Resort Wood Advertising Sign
For your consideration is this Clear Lake Resort sign from Albany, Oregon circa late 1900s. Clear Lake, the “lake born of fire,” was formed by an eruption 3,000 years ago. The valley's historic McKenzie River entrance was reached by lava flowing from Sand Mountain. Along the banks of the river, there was a thick Douglas fur forest. When magma erupted, it flooded this original forest, forming a new ecosystem. Despite being submerged in 120 feet of glacier water, some of these trees' remains can still be seen. and due to the extremely cold water, these trees are still in tact today. Today, there are many cabins and camping sites to be rented to enjoy the list of activities the site has to offer such as boating, swimming, hiking, fishing and biking trails. The sign shows a salmon pink background with maroon colored images of an RV and a tree, a boat, a picnic table, a tent and someone water skiing and lettering. The sign reads, "Clear Lake Resort / Camping, Boating, Swimming / Owned & Operated By... Heavy & Sis Myers" in maroon lettering. The sign shows good condition with slight wear to the paint, images and lettering from slight cracking in the wood board, but is still in good readable and display condition with no signs of obvious damage. The sign measures 16" L x 44" W.
