Late 18th to early 19th century flintlock pistol closely copied from British pattern with many small variations and unidentified crown stamped inside brass trigger guard. 19-1/2” overall, 12” barrel of .69 caliber, and full stocked to muzzle. When laid along side the British pattern, many small differences are obvious including the angle of the grip, the shape of the lock, the ridge at the rear of the lock, the trigger guard finial and a host of other small differences. The dutch and English arms of the late 18th to 19th century are very similar in many cases as they and their navies were allied. The only marking other than the aforementioned stamp inside the triggerguard is the numbers “80” stamped behind the side plate. The condition is good to very good with light to moderate pitting and erosion and generally smooth surfaces. The lock is in its original configuration with proper hammer, frizzen, and small parts. The stock is very good with minor imperfections, opening around pinholes, very small losses, dings, very small chips, hairline cracks, and just normal aging. The belt hook has been removed and the ramrod is missing. An interesting sea service pistol which is possibly Dutch or Continental. Est.: $900-$1,800
