Last photograph of Robert E. Lee ever taken, signed by the Confederate General. Original carte de visite of Lee is boldly signed ''R.E. Lee'' at the lower right of his image. Circa 1870, photo is mounted to a card printed ''Boude & Miley, Lexington, VA'' by the photographers. Taken during his tenure as president of Washington College (now Washington and Lee University) in Lexington, the photo measures 4.25'' x 2.5'' with minor surface flaw near his hair and overall fading to image, else very good to near fine.
