<B>Lash LaRue's Signature Bullwhip from TV's "Lash of the West," with Signed Picture.</B></I> Black-clad Lash LaRue and his bullwhip rose in fame together, from poverty row Westerns of the late 1940s to the 1953 TV series <I>Lash of the West.</B></I> The Saturday matinee idol had a colorful post-stardom life, including an alleged 10 to 12 marriages, an appearance in the X-rated <I>Hard on the Trail</B></I> (1971), and later penitent missionary work when he realized that the aforementioned film was actually a porn movie. (He hadn't been around when the sex scenes were shot.) At any rate, this display presents Lash (1917-1996) in his whip-cracking prime, complete with his coiled brown bullwhip and a dashing portrait of Lash with the whip, boldly signed in black, "Lash LaRue." The black frame measures 17" x 21" with a glass front, and a small plaque set inside the tan matte reads "Lash LaRue Production Used Whip." A wire attached to the back allows immediate display. This is a professionally mounted tribute to one of the most flamboyant of the low budget cowboy stars, whose gregarious nature delighted fans during his late-in-life western convention appearances.
