Larry Lieber and Mickey Demeo - Original Art for Amazing Spider-Man Annual #5, page 1 (Marvel, 1968). In 1968, Stan Lee finally answered the burning question of what exactly happened to Peter Parker's parents. We learn the horrible truth that the Parker's were actually spying as agents for the sinister Red Skull. A tour de force story if there ever was one causing more excitement than the infamous Rosenberg trial. This historic issue was rendered by Stan's brother, Larry Lieber. Inking was handled by Spider-Man artist regular, Mickey Demeo, aka Mike Esposito. Jazzy John Romita, listed as chaotic consultant, appears to have lent a hand on some of the pages in an attempt to give the book a look consistent with the regular run. This classic page one beauty, depicts a large image of Spidey, clinging to a wall, with his spider sense tingling. The image area measures 12" x 17", twice-up art, pen and ink on art board. The condition of the artwork is excellent. Important notice: We expect to be auctioning lots at the rate of 200-250 per hour.
