Larry Fine (The Three Stooges) Original Wire Painting-Sculpture
Larry Fine (The Three Stooges) Original Wire Painting-Sculpture Great teams always come together by accident. You can't plan them or create them. This is true of the legendary "Three Stooges". Shemp, Moe and Curly were brothers, but the "middle stooge" was "outsider" Larry Fine. He started with the other Stooges with Ted Healy who was the straight man to their crazy physical comedy which would become their trademark. Although they replaced Shemp with Curly, and then several other Curly's through the years, Moe and Larry remained with the team to the very end. Larry ended their come-back tours in the late 1950's and early 1960's (made famous by reruns on TV), when he had a massive stroke. However, with his loving wife Mable, he continued to remain active. He was always artistic, actually starting out as a professional violinist (and even a boxer). After his stroke Larry began creating special wire sculptures, especially of his beloved Frigates that had fascinated him from his youth. These have become highly collectable. This is one of Larry Fine's wire Frigate painting-sculptures that he created in his last days at the Motion Picture Country House in Woodland Hills, California. Comes with a Letter of Provenience from Larry Fine's sister, Lyla Fine Budnick. (Measures approx 22"x26")
