Devine black velvet evening party dress. Many designers owe their careers to this man. Born to Russian Jewish immigrants he started designing early but his label didn't bear his name till the 1940s. In 1964 he opened the Aldrich Museum of Contemporary Art as he was a collector of fine art throughout his life. With an eye for the beauty of art it is not surprising he produced some of the finest ladies clothing during his lifetime. This dress is no exception and I am tempted to save for the history. My mannequin in no way does this dress justice. This dress and label that states Larry Aldrich New York is from the late 1950s to early 1960s and screams woman. Luscious thick black velvet with black grosgrain ribbon accents. Satin lined with large 1.0 plastic buttons along the back and one on each sleeve which are half sleeve. Long 28.0 grosgrain at back of neck on each side can be tied into a bow or can hang loosely. Whichever makes for a very glamorous look. Measurements are as follows. Waist 13.0 which would be doubled to 26.0. Bust 19.0 which would be 38.0 doubled and length is 47.0. Nice deep 9.0 fully lined pocket on each side of dress. A true masterpiece by a true master.
