Large percussion double-action revolver similar in appearance to LeMatt signed Boullier Blanchard a Paris on barrel. Serial #4527 on frame. The revolver is approx. .45 caliber or 11.5mm 6-shot cylinder, iron mounted, with hinged ramrod on left side of barrel, similar to LeMatt. The pistol shows a grey patina finish and was probably bright metal, now showing some light erosion pinprick pitting. The cylinder shows considerable original blue with some minor erosion and pinprick pitting, the cylinder matches the barrel leading us to believe this was a two-tone French grey with blued cylinder. The pistol shows a scroll type triggerguard and a nicely checkered select wood grip which is in good condition showing a few marks, normal aging. The inside area of the grip is stamped 1848 which possibly could be a date. The action is good, the pistol is good overall and shows its original sights. There is a small crown Y proof on the left bottom of frame. We can fine no other proofs on cylinder or barrel. A good quality pistol by a well-known French maker that bears first-glance similarity to LeMatt as previously stated. From the Robert Petersen Collection. Est: $1,000 - $2,000
