Large clip point Bowie knife by Barnes and Son Sheffield, with five etched blade and original scabbard, missing tip. Knife measures approx 16-1/2” overall , 11” blade with false edge. Blade of heavy stock, approx. 5/16”, and shows original polish in near fine original condition with slight staining, minor aging, and one indention on the blade edge with very slight tipping. Panel etching shows American eagle, American Bowie Knife, patriotic slogans, and motifs along with the name Edward Barnes in riband. The etching is 90-95% intact and near fine also. Heavy duty German silver crossguard with one-piece stag hilt and iron pommel cap. Several battle notches carved in hilt. Original scabbard with gold embossing, minus tip, in good to very good condition. Some natural aging overall but generally very good overall with an exceptional and impressive blade.
