Large clip point Bowie knife, approx. 14-1/2” overall, 9” blade, approx. 1-9/16” wide, with pronounced false edge. Marked “Tillotson Colombia Place, Sheffield”. Integral German silver cast hilt with coffin shape, reclining lion pommel and mother of pearl scales with German silver escutcheon. Fancy S-shaped German silver crossguard. The blade is in near fine condition with light old cleaning and small patches of light spidering, miniscule nicks, and normal aging. The pearl scales are near excellent. A very fancy and desirable knife circa about 1850. Hugh Hayes Collection. Est. $7,000 - $14,000.
