Vintage French Tapestry made by the famous Gobelins Company in Paris, depicts idyllic country scene, almost certainly suggesting the grounds of a French chateau. Measures slightly over 7' X 31' ( 2.2 Metres X 950cm ) supported on the wall by 12 sturdy eyes, allowing it to be hung on a tapestry pole or individual hooks as desired. It Is In very good condition with no scuffs or tears & has original label on the reverse. History Of Gobelins: The Manufacture Des Gobelins Is A Tapestry Factory Located In Paris, France, At 42 Avenue Des Gobelins, Near The Les Gobelins Metro Station In The 13th Arrondissement. It Is Probably Most Famous For Being The Supplier Of The French Courts Since The Time Of Louis Xiv. In The Fifteenth Century A Family Of Dyers Established Themselves On The Banks Of The Bievre River. In 1602 Henry Iv Rented Factory Space To Enable His Tapestry Makers To Produce Tapestries. It Is Now State Owned And Run By The French Ministry Of Culture. 9872-032118-ES-02797
