Mindanao, Tribal Philippines: Large and impressively-decorated SILVER Disc worn by the Mandaya tribal elite as status and rank symbols. Pictured as exhibits #d 128 and 129 in the UCLA Museum of Cultural History survey of Philippines as cataloged with their exhibit in the 1990s as "The People and Art of the Philippines". 13.5cm across (the Museum one was only 11cm) the scribed and punched decoration is similar in both examples. A rare and important art-form that is not found in other SE Asian cultures. Early 20th C.
