Paiute (Washoe) burden basket, 16.5" x 18". The Washoe, a one-time semi nomadic tribe lived in the region near Lake Tahoe, and down to Carson City, Nevada. The Paiute People of the Great Basin are known for their basketry. Many of these Paiute Indian baskets served utilitarian purposes.
