This suspense-packed painting of the German artist Michaël Schreiber was painted in 1985. The artist has created the figure of a falling man with broad, visible brush strokes. His legs have been done in thin chalk strokes whereas his upper body and especially the shoulders have been painted far more dark and strong than the rest. The head has been painted with simple, broad white strokes. As if to underline the fall on the canvas, the upper half has been painted white whereas the lower part has been left untreated. The painting is part of a series of paintings, the artist has done about the ballet dancer Ismael Ivo.The painting is in good condition. The canvas is not really stretched and shows some dents that will disappear when stretched anew. The overall dimensions, framed, are 156.5 x 111.5 cm, the dimensions of the stretcher frame are 155 x 110 cm. The thin frame shows visible traces of use. The painting is signed and dated in the lower right „SCHREIBER 85“.

Michaël Schreiber (geb. 1949)
Michaël Schreiber studied at the Academy for Fine Arts in Berlin as a master student of Prof. W. Petrick. Since 1977, he has had several solo exhibitions and has been represented on the Art Basel since 1982. He lives and works in Berlin.
