Featured in this lot is this large Navajo Klagetoh Trading Post rug c. 1920's. The rug shows wonderfully tight weave with stepped medallions that coincide with the traditional Klagetoh Trading Post design with traditional medallions and lovely coloration, one of the most unique parts of the rug is the cream on off cream medallions hidden in the field of the rug. The colors shown here are vibrant and include red, brown and two shades of cream coloration. This is one of the largest and nicest rugs available to the open market
The condition of this rug is phenomenal for its age with slight bleeding that is an indicator of the age of the rug, also the discoloration or heathering is an indicator that the rug was hand dyed with naturally made dyes. The measurements of this large rug are 73" x 54" the piece appears to have a knot count of approximately 230 knot count per square inch. Provenance: From the renowned Sundog Fine Art Bozeman, Montana collection and collected by Bruce VanLandingham. Bruce VanLandingham was a pillar in the American Indian collecting community and a respected expert. Along with being an avid collector, Bruce also was the sole owner of Sundog Fine Art Gallery in Bozeman, which was both part museum and gallery. Identification#: E1114.
