Housed in seventeen contemporary collector albums, imprinted with either Notgeld Sammelmappe (Emergency money collection folder) or Notgelder des Landes Salzburg (Emergency Money of Salzburg Austria).

A nice mix of these colorful notes, issued in Germany and Austria during the tough economic times during and after World War I.

Contains approx. 3,800 notes.

A Common misconception is that Notgeld means “NOT MONEY”. In fact, the German word “not” means emergency and “geld” means money.

There are many so-called series notes included here and the amount of duplication, of any, is small. The mix appears to be 30% Austrian and 70% German, but that is based on a casual observation and not an actual count – no guarantees. The binders are in poor condition, but the quality of the notes is generally good, mostly unc and the paper and colors remain bright.

For any collector looking to jump into the field of notgeld collecting, this is a wonderful start.
