Large hard-paste porcelain lozenge-shaped Sevres tray circa 1771. This rare beautiful tray is elegantly painted with sprays of very elaborately painted bouquets of garden flowers by the Sevres artist Niquet. Niquet was a flower painter at the Sevres porcelain factory from 1764-1792. Niquet incised mark of Nq is under the tray as well as the interlaced L's inclosing a s for the date mark of 1771. Niquet work on Empress Catherine the Great famous Neo Classical 775 piece dinner service and also a service for Madame du Barry, mistress to French king Louis XV. Length; 15" x 11" 1/2. Condition: Very good. I purchased this tray in Nice France ten years ago.
