<td width="100%">
Unusually large English Match Striker with rare cranberry glass.
Dense lines of colored threaded glass make up the exterior
ridges over the entire surface giving the appearance that whole
thing is all red, but it is actually cranberry glass hand-applied
over a clear glass base Topped in sterling silver that is
hallmarked to Birmingham 1905. Shown in the last photo in the
company of a much smaller version, also of cranberry glass.
Loose matches would have been stored in the center well and
then struck along the ridged surface where the friction
generated would create the sought after flame.
