<B>Large Civil War Archive Pertaining to the 11th Connecticut Volunteers.</B></I> Approximately 50 manuscript, printed, and partially printed items revealing the wartime experiences of a hard-fighting Yankee infantry regiment. The 11th Connecticut Volunteer Infantry was organized at Hartford on October 24, 1861. For the next year the regiment served under Ambrose Burnside. It participated in his early 1862 "Expedition" against coastal North Carolina and suffered heavy casualties at "Burnside's Bridge" during the Battle of Antietam on September 17, 1862. Subsequent actions included Cold Harbor and the lengthy Petersburg siege. The 11th Connecticut lost many of its soldiers - one at a time - to rebel sharpshooters during the war's final months. Included here are the following items:<BR><B>Three Politician's Autograph Letters Signed,</B></I> 8 pp. total, 8vo, addressed to T. S. Wilderman, 1861 and 1862, with blank "Official Business" envelope.<BR><B>Three telegrams on "U. S. Military Telegraph" stationery and one related envelope,</B></I> each message is one page, 8vo, December, 1864. These documents inquire after the location of trains.<BR><B>Approximately 30 partially printed enlistment papers for soldiers of the 11th Connecticut,</B></I> each two pages, 4to, 1864.<BR><B>Four partially printed "Inventory of the Effects" documents for deceased soldiers,</B></I> each two pages, 4to, 1864. Included are fatalities from Cold Harbor and Petersburg.<BR><B>Partially printed muster roll for the 11th Connecticut's Field & Staff,</B></I> two pages, oblong folio, New Bern, North Carolina, April, 1862.<BR><B>Four partially printed "Returns",</B></I> each two pages, oblong folio, 1862-1865.<BR><B>Partially printed "Morning Report",</B></I> two pages, oblong folio, Virginia, August 15, 1865.<BR><B>Partially printed "Descriptive List" for Private John Jollie,</B></I> two pages, oblong folio, Bermuda Hundred, Virginia, December, 1864. <BR><B>Eight blank printed forms,</B></I> each two pages, oblong folio.<BR><BR>Overall light aging as expected, these papers average very good to fine condition.<BR><BR><b>Shipping:</b> Small Flat (<a target="_blank" href="http://www.heritageauctions.com/common/shipping.php">view shipping information</a>)
