An important Scholar/Literati artifact, this fine Qingpai example is 8-3/4" long and 4-1/2" tall by 1-1/4" deep. The tannish-colored clay has fired orange at the glaze border, and greyish on the flat underside. The brushrest is covered with incised floral patterns and the light green glaze has pooled at the ridgeline about the base area. Likely Wanli-Kangxi period, the condition is perfect and a salty deposit near a small hole suggests it may have served double duty sometimes as a water dropper. An impressive example.
