Philip I was born in modern day Seria, and is often called Philip the Arab. He was sympathetic to Christians and even attempted to celebrate Easter with them one year, a very unusual thing for the time. It was not until the conversion of Constantine I some decades later that Christians felt relatively secure in practicing their faith. This is a bronze Sestertius, the size of which is 26 mm.
