One of the most desirable forms of ancient pottery, this Greek Hydria dates between 325-300 B.C., manufactured in the Greek colony of Campania in southeastern Italy. Used to hold water and wine, this vessel has a long tapered body, twin sweeping handles to the side and longer vertical handle at the rear, flat rim and three-tiered foot with single band of applied white pigment at the neck. 14-1/2"H, repaired from about a dozen larger pieces (approximately 7% restoration). Ex-private Arizona Collection acquired in the 1960's. Nice!
