This banner measures 49 inches by 54 inches. One side has lions flanking a shield, a cluster of spears and rifles above "Providentie Memor" and the motto "Treu den Konig, Liebe dem Komerad" (Staying faithful to the king, Love the komrad) all on a white background. The other side has a dress helmet, crossed cannons, rifles and the motto "Militair Verein Appel, Mohorn" (Military association Appel, Mohorn) with the date 1869, all on a green background. The images and lettering on the banner are embroidered with some containing sequins. The two piece carrying pole has 37 gold and silver shields of different designs with the names and dates prior to 1900 (most are dated 1883). The pole fits together with a brass fitting with a coat of arms, the dates 1869 and 1894 and is crowned by a 13 inch solid brass figure of Germaine. The pole also has the leather carrying strap with brass fittings.

Very good plus overall. The banner shows some minor stains and tears. The pole shows some stress cracks, a number of handling marks and a couple missing shields. The figure of Germaine has a couple hairline cracks and an overall attractive patina. The carrying strap shows age cracking.
