Measuring 84 inches in overall length, this sign is rendered in the shape of a percussion rifle, wood construction overall with a pair of metal "barrel bands" securing the "ramrod", with the "metal" painted black and the stock in brown. Running across the left side of the sign in red and gold lettering is "PERRYVILLE GUNSMITH". Perryville, located in Wood County, Ohio, was one of only 2 cities laid out by Revolutionary War Engineer Pierre Charles L'Enfant, the other being Washington, D.C.. The specific gunsmith who used this sign has not been researched.
