Measures 6 1/2’’ x 5 1/2’’ on grey matte. Medium contrast and focus is sharp. In good condition with some wear. Matte and photograph have brown age marks scattered throughout. And bottom right and top left corners are slightly worn. Writing in pencil on back of matte reads “Rambler Copper Mine. Laramie, Wyoming. 10,000 feet above sea level.” No photographer identified. Shows the Rambler Copper mine, At least four buildings are seen in the background and several trees surrounding the mine have been cut down. A small black dog can be seen seated amongst the stumps. Owned and operated by the Rambler Mining & Smelting Co. The mine was first used for gold in 1870, but changed its focus to copper in 1900. The mine also had a variety of copper minerals as well as other metals. The only known occurrence of a mine with both copper with platinum in Wyoming (The Copper Handbook. Vol IV. 1904).
