The lot features a nice polychrome painted parfleche feather bonnet headdress case from the Lakota Sioux Native American Indians. The piece shows an all heavy parfleche rawhide construction with Indian tanned hide hand cut long fringe and ties having a nice geometric traditional polychrome mineral pigment dyes painted design along the entire outside surface. The piece shows colors such as blue, red, green, and yellow with a dark brown / black outline. The bonnet case shows a parfleche polychrome painted round top lid with the four-spirit corner design in red and yellow with a blue outline. The piece is in very good condition and has a nice patina. Provenance: From the private family collection of Sarah Alling of Helena, Montana. The family collection of Sarah Alling, a 5th Generation Montanan, began in the 19th Century and has grown since. Along with being an avid collector herself, Sarah co-founded with Bruce VanLandingham Sundog Fine Art of Bozeman, Montana which was both part museum and gallery. Measures overall 12.25”L with an additional 10”L fringe (measuring overall 27”L from the top tie to the bottom fringe) by 4.25”W in diameter.
