The piece features an excellent diamond shaped eye gun barrel forged pipe tomahawk from the Lakota Sioux Native American Indian tribe. The piece is from circa 1860 and comes with a Certificate of Authenticity from Le Hussard SA (a famous Militaria Indian expert in France). The piece was from the Jean-Marc private collection and has been features on the Trade Axe & Tomahawk Collectors Association website as begin an authentic 1860 piece. The tomahawk has a rich carved wood handle being red ocher mineral dyed with excellent file burned carved accents and brass covered iron tacks. The middle of the shaft shows early red white heart Hudson Bay pound beads with brass trade bells. The end of the war club rare early sea glass and chevron trade bead drop fringe piece, all original. The tomahawk head shows a unique octagon shaped deep bowl and diamond shaped eye connection. The shaft also has the original stamp painted Museum numbers, "FTM-S-T41" and was deaccessioned. Measures 20 5/8"L with a 8 7/8"L x 2.75"W x 1 5/8"D axe head. Letter of Authenticity included.
