This is an exceptional Lakota Sioux Native American Indian pipe tomahawk from circa 19t century. The piece features a forged iron tomahawk head and bowl with file burned brass covered iron trade tacked carved wood haft. The tomahawk head shows various notches along both sides of the top and bottom edge of the blade, believed to be hunting or war kills (total of 75 notches). The connection of the head and deep bowl both show a linear engraving. Provenance: From a large early Native American Indian private collection in Iowa. The piece displays very well and shows overall good museum quality condition. Early tomahawk iron head. Measures overall 25"L with a 9.5"L x 3 7/8"W x 1.75"D tomahawk pipe head. Pipe bowl is ¾” in diameter and 1 1/8” deep. Review pictures for age.
