Offered for public purchase is this authentic original fully beaded tomahawk war club drop from the Lakota Sioux Native American Indian people and dating to circa 19th Century. The piece shows an Indian tanned hide and red trade clothe stroud wool construction with glass trade seed beadwork in a typical traditional geometric design. The beadwork shows all period correct glass trade seed beads in chalk white, sky padre blue, Cheyenne pink, and dark blue. The piece would have been adorned from an early tomahawk, pipe tomahawk, ball head war club, or stone head war club. It is very unusual to occur a beaded drop separate from its original tomahawk, making this truly a wonderful item. The piece appears to have an original museum collection tag that states it is from the C. Mortenson collection. Provenance: From the renowned Sundog Fine Art Bozeman, Montana collection and collected by Bruce VanLandingham. Bruce VanLandingham was a pillar in the American Indian collecting community and a respected expert. Along with being an avid collector Bruce also was the sole owner of Sundog Fine Art Gallery in Bozeman which was both part museum and gallery. The piece measures 4.5 inches by 6 inches.
