The lot features a solid catlinite pipestone pipe stem expertly carved from the Lakota Sioux Native American Indians from the Pine Ridge Indian Reservation of South Dakota and dating to circa 1930. The piece shows solid catlinite pipestone from Minnesota with a deep red coloring and outstanding highly speckled pink. The piece has a beveled, angular, geometric cut pattern showing square sections at the front, middle, and end with two prominent sections that are tapering into an octagonal design. The pipe is largest at the pipe bowl connection end and slightly tapers towards the smoking tip end. The piece would have likely been paired with an elbow pipe, "T" pipe, or tomahawk head pipe. The piece is in overall good conditionm showing little chipping and small wear. Measures overall 11" L and 1 1/8" by 1 1/8" diagonally across the largest square end thick.
