The lot features a bi-pointed horn war dance club with beautiful linear geometric beadwork from the Lakota Sioux Native American Indians of South Dakota from the 19th Century. The piece is constructed of a bi-pointed horns affixed with sinew, parfleche Buffalo hide, and inserts of poured lead underneath of weight. The wooden haft has a thick hide wrap and is completely covered in colorful beadwork, done in all glass trade seed beads and showing a linear geometric pattern. There is a long hasp of old dyed horse tail inserted through an old bullet cartridge case tied onto the bottom of the club that hangs down an additional 34 inches. Provenance: Form the Cyrus Eaton London, England collection. The war club measures 9 inches across by 19 ½ inches in length.
