<B>Laird Cregar Vintage Promo Photos.</B></I> Laird Cregar (1913-1944) was a magnificent Hollywood villain, a 6'3," 300-lb. "heavy" best-remembered for his spine-chilling portrayal of Jack the Ripper in <I>The Lodger</B></I> (1944). He used to laugh ruefully that he received "fan mail" from people who took his screen image too seriously, and who would list the various ways in which they would like to kill him.
