Lady in the Lake (MGM, 1947). Title Lobby Card (11 X 1 Lady in the Lake (MGM, 1947).
Lady in the Lake (MGM, 1947). Title Lobby Card and Lobby Cards (3) (11" X 14"). Robert Montgomery directs and stars in this famous film noir. He plays detective and aspiring writer Philip Marlowe. When editor Audrey Totter meets with Marlowe, she prefers his detective skills and employs him to find the missing wife of her boss, a case complicated by the possible connection to a murder of a mysterious lady in the lake. While a film penned by Raymond Chandler always holds interest, these lobby cards proudly display the most fascinating aspect of the film. The title card promises that, "You and Robert Montgomery solve a murder mystery together!" The film is filmed with a subjective camera, with the viewer given Robert Montgomery's point of view, a gimmick that these cards try to market but also contradict; while Montgomery can only be seen in mirrors in the film, each of these cards feature the actor, third-person cards for a first-person film. Each card has slightly rounded corners, slight scuffs on the edges and an embossed NSS stamp. One card has tape marks, and the title card has minor tears on the top and right edges and two pencil marks in the image. Fine+.
