Lady for a Day (Columbia, 1933). Window Card (14" X 22"). Mary Robson is delightful as Apple Annie, a fruit peddler with something to hide. For years, she has kept her daughter, Louise (Jean Parker), living in the lap of luxury. Louise has never known that her mother is a simple street vendor. Now that her daughter is engaged to a wealthy Spanish nobleman (Barry Norton), her dirty laundry may come out into the open. This original window card has some soiling and light tearing around the edges. But the display of the cast on star backgrounds is a format seldom seen anymore. Something interesting to note about this card: in the top left corner, there is an image of Capra that is larger than any of the stars'. It appears that Columbia Pictures knew that it was Capra that filled theater seats. Capra would later successfully re-make this film in 1961 as "Pocketful of Miracles" with Bette Davis as Apple Annie. Great color! Very Fine.
