(New York: Holt, Rinehart and Winston, 1970), first edition, 806 pages, green-and-cream cloth binding, 8vo (6.5” x 9”), dust jacket (in protective mylar cover). Claudia Alta “Lady Bird” Taylor Johnson (1912-2007) served as First Lady of the United States during the 1963-69 administration of her husband, 36th President Lyndon B. Johnson (1908-1973). This first edition of her memoirs, an intimate, behind-the-scenes account of the Johnson presidency, was published one year after they left the White House. A bookplate boldly signed<I> “Lady Bird Johnson” </B></I>is attached on the front endpaper.
