So compact - what every gentlewoman needed for travelling!</em></td>

<tr>
<td width="100%">
An early 20th century box - a dressing case, containing provisions for all the items a lady needed when travelling: a long bottle for hatpins and long hair clips, a screw top bottle for perfume, two small lidded unguent or rouge pots, a square pot for hairpins or hair etc. There is also a compartment for rings or other small items, a fold-down front flap for button hooks, awls etc., and an open cavity underneath the top tray for necklaces or miscellaneous items. The lid has a mirror on the inside, which can be removed, so that it can be been a card easel back to the mirror, so it could be stood on a dresser top. The box is leather lined, and the outside is also leather-clad.
Condition: Very good overall. All jars are chip-free. The perfume bottle would have once had another small stopper inside the screw-lid. The interior leather has a few marks and some wear, but is basically in very good original condition.
