Lot of 2, including an unsigned letter to George Wingfield, dated 27 February 1911, in which the writer tells of his concerns over a possible uprising by the miners in Goldfield. He tells Wingfield the while on his way to Esmeralda County by train, he met and had discussions with a Mr. Hanlin and a Capt. Long "of their secret service force." The letter is 4 pp long, intact, although yellowed and has some tears and fold creases. It is an excellent and insightful look at labor in the mines of the period. Also included is an 11" x 17" anti-union rules for miners. Some of the listed requirements and rules are the pay rates for different jobs, ranging from $3.50/day for surface and mill labor, to $5.00/day for electricians, engineers, carpenters, and machinists. The rules also state that "Eight hours shall constitute a day`s labor in and around the mines, mills and reduction plants of the company." Very good to new condition, with some fold creasing. -59048
