<B>American Labor Movement Leaders Autograph Collection</B></I> consisting of nine letters including: American Federation of Labor founder, <B>Samuel Gompers</B></I> Typed Quote Signed "<I>Sam. Gompers</B></I>". One page, 7.5" x 10.25" on A.F.L. letterhead, Washington, September, 2, 1915. A powerful statement made more timely by the Great War being fought across the Atlantic: "There are some things even more abhorrent than war: That is, to be robbed of the birthright of freedom, justice, safety and character." Below his signature a previous owner has affixed a news-clipping quoting the same words. Offered together with C.I.O. leader <B>John L. Lewis</B></I> Typed Letter Signed. One page, 8.5" x 11", Washington, November 6, 1940, thanking his correspondent for his approval of "...the expressions contained in my public address..." Also together with A.F.L. leader, <B>William Green,</B></I> a series of seven Typed Letters Signed, "<I>Wm Green</B></I>". One page each, 8.5" x 11", Washington, March 15, 1927 to May 13, 1930, all written to the chairman of the George Washington National Bi-Centennial Commemoration Committee.
