'La Coupe de France'' championship trophy won by French football legend Jean-Pierre Papin, who made the FIFA 100 list of the greatest football players of all time. Trophy was won by Papin in 1989, while he was captain of the Marseille football club. ''La Coupe de France'' is awarded to the winner of the final game of a competition between the top French teams. A prolific striker, Papin scored an astonishing three goals in the final on 10 June 1989, and led the French league with 22 goals in 36 league appearances that season. In fact, the term ''Papinade'' was coined after Papin's powerful volley shots. Silver trophy features a metal cup affixed to a black wooden base with a blue felt bottom. A silver plaque on the front reads ''...Finale De La Coupe De France / 1988/1989...'' Measures 2'' x 2'' x 6''. Cup portion is slightly loose on the base, else near fine. Obtained directly from Jean-Pierre Papin and with his LOA.
