Squeaky on Manson: "He is humble, he is grand, he is all things..."

(b. 1948) "Squeaky", follower of Charles Manson, later attempted to assassinate President Gerald Ford, failing to get a shot off when her gun jammed. Fine content A.L.S. 3pp. 4to., [Sacramento], Jan. 24, 1975, on blue and purple notepaper to a reporter in England, in part: "...First let me express primary interest in Dr. Zaehner's book. We wish to see it...Secondly I hope you will answer each one of these questions. What about the Manson case caught your attention? How is your own life connected with him? How long have you been freelancing & who does your typing? How old are you? If your will could change this planet, what would you will?...Are you educated...What is the meaning of 'power' to you?...Have you ever lived on a commune?...I like what you say about 'the different opinions.' It is my desire to show that each man's opinions are based on his own limited view of the world & himself, limited not by capability, but by all outside influence, i.e. mass-public opinion...Worldwide attention does indeed follow C.M. He did not choose this position. It chose him. He is humble, he is grand, he is all things - but it is up to us to see that we quit being a scapegoat for other's problems. Even as he recognizes all as himself, he must be recognized by all as a reflection...This is both amazingly terrible & beautiful...After you answer this letter I will know if we can help each other...Be real, & I will understand any of your mis-understandings...". With original bright pink envelope signed in return address area. At the time of this letter, Fromme had been acquitted of involvement in the Lauren Willett murder and was living in California with another Manson follower, Sandra Good. A year letter she would spearhead the attempt on Gerald Ford's life. Fine condition.

Estimate: $150 - 200.
