LYNDON B. JOHNSON TYPED LETTER SIGNED. Typed letter boldly signed "Lyndon B. Johnson" on 6.75" x 8.75" White House stationary, Washington, D.C., November 18, 1964. Note to Governor Elbert N. Carvel (Governor of Delaware 1949-1953, 1961-1965) thanking him for his letter and expressing his enjoyment during his visit to Delaware. President Johnson also writes "As you noted, the only regret is that we will not have you in Washington with us" referring to Governor Carvel's recent defeat to John J. Williams for Senate. Stamped at bottom "Received/Nov ?, 1964/Governor's Office". Letter is initialed in blue ink at top left "Fl". Letter is stamped to an original copy of a letter from Governor Carvel to President Johnson (unsigned) dated November 5, 1964. The letter expresses Governor Carvel's jubilation in Johnson's victory in Delaware and the United States. Governor Carvel also writes of his appreciation for President Johnson visiting Delaware before the election and writes about his loss to John J. Williams in the Senate race. Letter copy shows folding at right side and at bottom. Letter copy is written in pencil at top right "22-3-13".
