"KENTUCKY" RIFLE BY ALLAN SANDY WITH BUCKSKIN STORAGE BAG. Cal. 50. S#113. Bbl. 44". This very attractive high quality contemporary rifle has 44" gracefully swamped oct. bbl. fitted w/ semi-buckhorn rear & blade front sights. A silver inlaid banner on top flat engraved "ALLAN SANDY". S# "113" is engraved on tang behind two silver bands & some scroll engraving. Browned lock is nicely made & features chamfered flat plate w/ long rebaited tail, inset faceted pan, bridled friction frizzen & feather spring w/ spear finial. Serpentine cock & lockplate have some large scroll engraving. The stock is the most distinct & important attribute of any Kentucky rifle & the stock on this rifle is of a superb piece of dramatically tiger striped maple w/ lovely grain throughout. Nicely finished & engraved furniture is mostly brass w/ the exception of some silver inlaid wire & an inverted crescent moon on cheekpiece along w/ holder for pricker, under cheekpiece. Stock also exhibits very nicely done raised curving w/ smoothly executed fields having tear drop finials around lock & sideplate. There is relief carved scroll at rear of bbl. tang & very nice raised carved scroll at rear of cheekpiece. Furniture is cleanly engraved including quite showy brass patch box w/ release button in 4" buttplate return. UNATTACHED ACCESSORIES: Well made buckskin carrying bag decorated w/ long fringe & multicolored beads. Closing button is of whitetail antler crown. Allan Sandy is a CLA charter member & has a two year wait for one of his rifles. CONDITION: very close to as new, frizzen unsparked, & w/ only a very few of the lightest handling & assembly marks on all wood & metal surfaces & some minor tarnishing of brass.
