The gold-filled tau-handle cane has geometric, floral and acanthus leaf designs over most of the 3.5" wide by 1.75"high handle. One side is monogrammed "Th. A. S." The tapering hardwood shaft has split near the center and thenickel ferrule has a recently added crutch-tip added. Total length is 34". The folk art cane is a single piece ofhardwood. The L-type handle has an up-turned end that is carved into a 1" high head of an animal or mythicalcreature. It appears to be monkey-like, but sports small horns and blue glass eyes. Missing ferrule. Total lengthfrom top of head, 35.5".The split in tau-handled cane resulted in complete separation, presently held together with scotch tape. Originalferrule was probably standard nickel & steel. Suspect folk art cane had crutch-tip at one time.(EST 200-400)
