<B>LORITA GILES (1893-1992)</B></I><BR><I>Jitter Bugs, 2nd State,</B></I> early 1940s<BR>Lithograph<BR>11in. x 8in.<BR>Signed lower right<BR><BR>Lorita Giles did a series of lithographs during World War II depicting life in San Antonio for the men of the armed forces. Giles did two versions of this print. The first was a mirror image and very few were printed.<BR><BR>During the 1940s, Giles was one of the leading printmakers in San Antonio, which was confirmed by Jerry Bywaters, who ranked her as one of the foremost talents in Texas printmaking. Unfortunately, after moving because of her husbands job, Giles' printmaking decreased dramatically because she lost the use of the studio available to her in San Antonio.<BR><BR>Provenance:<BR>Collection of James and Kimel Baker<BR><BR> <B>Condition Report:</B> Excellent condition.
