RICHARDS. Cal. 10 Ga. S# 8423. The 43 1/2" twist bbls. are engraved "LAMINATED STEEL" on plain concave top rib. Bottoms of bbls. without flats are stamped w/ Belgian black powder proofs. Bottom rib is stamped w/ two sets of numbers "7765" & "8423". Rnd. bodied Jones underlever type action is fitted w/ backspring peninsula locks, having short bodied rebounding hammers. Action & lockplates are engraved w/ sprays of scroll. "W. RICHARDS" is stamped on each lockplate. Rnd. knob pistol grip buttstock w/ extreme drop measures 14 1/4" over steel buttplate w/ spur. Stock is of lightly figured European walnut & point pattern checkering is at grip. A vacant silver oval is on toeline. Matching splinter forend attaches to bbl. by captive sidebolt through oval steel escutcheons. MEASUREMENTS: BBLS: Bore Diameter: R .767", L .763". Restriction: R .002" (IC), L .020" (MOD). Min. Wall Thickness: R .050", L .060". STOCK: DAH: 4 1/8". DAC: 2 5/16". LOP: 14 1/4". CAST: Neutral. WEIGHT: 12 lb. 14 oz. CONDITION: fine. Bbls. retaining over 60% original twist finish w/ very fine definition to pattern. Action & locks have approx. 60% original case hardening color which was never vivid. Most original blue remains on opening lever. Stocks retain most of their original finish w/ light marks, worn through at grip & on forend. Bores are very fine, shiny w/ some light frosting.
